Has anyone got an easy wat of putting these on, it seems to take me about half an hour to get the hooks to line up before I can tighten it down :(

You must have parts missing then. There should be two "J" hooks held to the square frame that clamps around the top of the battery by two nuts, this holds the threads upright so they're in the right place for the cover to slide over and be held down by the two plastic knurled knobs.
 
Ah ha, looks like I'm missing the square bit that clamps the battery, maybe the battery is a bit to big and the previous owner got rid of the clamp. I've got the "j" bolts and the threaded knobs (ooh err) :shock: I'll have to see if I can get hold of one and see if I can get it to fit.
 
Cheers John, managed to make a bracket up this evening to clamp the battery and hold the j bolts in position, seems to work ok, thanks. BTW did you ever have the original frame and discarded it or never had it?

I think I may have had it and not used it (for whatever reason!) Will have a look in the garage on the weekend and let you know. If I have it I will post it to you.
