Regretful Sale, my Rover P6B. Funds required to fix my house and main project (RV8 Mk2 Cortina) etc etc etc. Truth is, I can't give her the time and love she deserves.
She's a 1970 (but 1971 on rego papers) English made S1 with the alloy grille and ribbon speedo. She does however have some S2 bits (I think from factory) so it's probably a change-over car.
Engine is a healthy mid 80's disco 3.5L that I have been reputedly told was rebuilt about 30K ago. The engine has a Holley conversion with a rebuilt 450 (and set up for this motor by 'Recarb' on the sunshine coast) and a lumenition (silver) electronic dizzy. There's no air-con or power steering. Auto is a BW35 that only leaks when parked on a steep incline (like car ramps) and is perhaps a little tired but serviceable.
Interior is in OK condition but one rear seat has some sun damage and drivers seat has a small tear. Carpets are OK but drivers is worn.
Body is 99% rust free - just a little in the doors and some bubbles in one of the rear quarters. Paint needs a polish and there's humidity blisters from a partial respray 20 years ago. They are static and don't appear to be causing trouble.
I got the car from a 15/20year hibernation and in the last 5 years I have had the following done to the car:
Installation of the rebuilt disco motor.
New Windscreen.
New Custom radiator (doesn't over-heat, even in summer traffic jams).
All brake calipers rebuilt and new remote servo.
Starter motor rebuilt.
Holley rebuilt.
5 new tyres.
and a few other fiddly bits like vacuum gauge, aux Temp gauge, new facet fuel pump etc.
The bits that don't work at the moment are: the horn (bad earth I think?). Interior light. Exhaust has a few holes. Neutral ign switch is out of alignment and has been bypassed. Factory temp gauge has a dicky voltage regulator, so an aux has been installed.
All in all she's a good solid start for someone wanting to get into Classic cars or fantastic bones for a restoration. I happily cruise her once a month and routinely go as far as Toowoomba/Crows Nest with no issues (300km round trip). Happy to field any questions, she's an honest car with honest wear so far as I can tell.
