Series 2 Drivers Seat

I don’t have a spare seat, but I’m sure I have read on here that you can fit a passenger seat on the driver-side, so that might widen your options to find something. I’m not 100% sure, but I expect someone else on here, but confirm. Good luck.

Yes and no.
In terms of mounting points, a passenger seat will go in, but it will foul the seat belt reel on a series 2 car (or at least a series 2 with inertia reels fitted). The early seats were modified in 1971 with the fitting of a chromed steel plate to pull the cushioning clear of the reel. This coincided with the base unit receiving the extra mount point on the B post to allow inertia reels to be fitted. Later box pleat seats are shaped to fit around the reel. The seat backs are therefore 'handed'.

In terms of seat bases, they will fit in either side without issue, and I personally prefer the seat bases swapped over so the recliner lever is on the outside. It doesn't come anywhere close enough to the door to cause concerns.

Swapping a driver's seatback onto a passenger seat base is a bit of a faff (the torsion bar spring and fittings need transposing too) but it can be done - I know, I've done it, so I could have the recliner levers on the outside.
