Shell FuelSave Fuels

Has anybody had any experience (with any car, modern, not-so-modern, really old, not just P6 Rovers! :)) with Shell's new "FuelSave Unleaded" and "FuelSave Diesel"?

Just filled up the P4 and then drove back home down the M6, didn't notice anything miraculous happening - should I have done ?

I was asking if anyone had used it and if it caused problems or not, etc! Shell brought out some "wonder" fuel in the mid-late 80's (Formula Shell, IIRC), but caused some cars to run rather badly... some even refused to run at all!

filled up the diesel fiesta with fuel saver shell stuff. 400ish miles later and we haven't noticed any difference at all.

I guess more to the point is what effect it has on older engines and small engines with 16v heads... ( Vauxhall had a problem with this in the 90s - a small engined 16v corsa or astra and small journeys = regular decokes. I seem to remember they blamed the fuel in some cases... dont know if there was any truth in it.)

I also heard that back in the 90s Montego engines were rendered virtually useless by safeways fuel. A couple of tank fulls of branded petrol and back to normal.

These days we always buy the cheapest fuel (usually sainsburys or tescos) and have never had problems. We used to use only V-power in the nissan figaro before we sold it ( it ran poorly on anything less!)

I remember Vauxhall having huge problems with Shell. A friend of mine used to work there back then and they did many many warranty claims due to the damage caused. Even the 8 valve lumps were having valve trouble. Can't recall the name of the stuff though :?

I only knew as I worked at a petrol station whilst doing my a levels and customers would tell you the problems they'd had and the owner of the station(texaco) also owned a shell station so we heard a lot about these problems. It was safeway and shell that seemed to have the issues.

Rich.
