St Georges day Rally, Lancashire

Well got 'Chatterbox' out this Sunday 22nd, for the Lancashire Automobile club, St Georges day rally. It's a 65 mile run around 20 villages in the Ribble Valley out of about 130 entrants I was the only P6, in fact the only Rover from what I could see, though there were a couple of series 1 Landrovers.
'Chatterbox' did not miss a beat, she's had a full service recently and a good tune up, she's also got a new set of cloth seats and I've got to say the drivers seat is now quite a comfortable place to be.
The original Bronze leather seats have been stored until some replacement parts are found, for now her interior looks quite tidy. I wanted to do this run to give me an idea whether or not she might make Beamish so i'll probably book for that in the next couple of days.

One thing about the run though and it was a good drive but hey the austin A30 is a bleedin slow car we had to follow it for about 10 miles and mainly it managed 20 mph, being about six cars behind it I thought it rude to whizz past and 'chatterbox' could easily whiz past at the moment.

Hi Ian, our run from Pilling crossed with you at Dunsop Bridge, I think we caused a bit of confusion on our back leg, our rally plaques were similiar.I saw a guy in a black A35's look of panic as two of us approaching him from the opposite direction, me in my P6, and my friend in his TR6. we did the LAC run in 2010 and 2011, 2010 was chaos (but fun) due to bad route planning. I had driven nearly 80 miles and the road book was at 40, half way. It was 2.30 so we had lunch at Chipping and went home  Last year was much better, but I got this years road book emailed and it was all most identical, hence some of the guys from our club who do the LAC organising their own. Shame I missed you at Dunsop Bridge. We also saw the Riley club run heading towards Dolphinholme early on.

We are not as chivalrous as you, if it's slow, we pass with a toot and a devil may care wave! Hope to see you at Beamish.

John.

Yes thats me, I'm sorry we didn't meet up at Dunsop Bridge if I'd have spotted another P6 I would have pulled over, there were no other P6's on the LAC rally.

Wouldn't mind a copy of that picture though the old girl looks pretty good, the car that is!

regards

Ian
