Hi All,

I have been waiting about a year and a half for a new exhaust for my 2200tc.

I towed her over on Monday and the old girl is now ready. I went over tonight for a look and it looks and sounds brilliant.

I am going to try and get a couple of photos with her on the ramps if possible. The guy wullie Kerr has done a first class job and was pleased to actually do the work on the car.

Now all I need to do is replace and paint the panels, re-fit the alternator, sort out the interior and she will be in tip top condition. don't think she'll make any shows this year though.

I am just so pleased with the exhaust and seeing the car driving around after spending the past year being semi-dismantled I had to tell the world ( well the p6 world)

Hi,
How`re you guys exhausts getting on? Any signs of rust at all, welds, spatter?! I`ve just taken a picture of the part you can see whilst standing next to the car, near the rear box and it has rust, which looks as though the welds were done with normal, not stainless, welding wire, which has caused spatter onto nearby pipe. I`ve sent this to the maker who responded with `its only surface rust, you can try brushing it off with a wire brush if you like, hope this puts your mind at rest`!!! Any thoughts on this please, before I go back to their premises with a yard of lead pipe! Drew

When I bought my St/st exhaust, first thing I did (before getting it fitted) was to go over it, especially the welds, with a magnet. Happy to say, the magnet didn't stick...

Hi Drew.

I am not surprised by their reply! Shows they dont really give a stuff!
Stainless steel shouldnt rust!! simple! OK! it will a little after a few years open to the elements, but not after only a few months with hardly any mileage on it!
And how they can categorically tell it is only surface rust without them examining it,is pure guess work!
All rust starts life as surface rust!!
If it is just the weld splatter bits rusting off, then I wouldnt worry too much.
Try getting a magnet out and see what happens! Some poor quality stainless will have a little bit of magnet stick.
Pop over to me if you are free this weekend,or I could pop over to you!
Call, text or E me.

Gentlemen,

I work for an Italian company that builds Industrial size Washing machine for hospitals etc, our biggest you can almost put a small car in. We use 316 stainless and when welded it can rust under certain conditions during welding.

If you get wire wool or similar and rub the area until the rust is gone chances are it wont return
