Steering column adjustment

I’m in the process of replacing the ignition switch on my early Series 2 ( not so hard thanks to Forum posts). I have removed the steering column adjuster. Unfortunately I was not sufficiently careful and the mix of flat, Tufnell, and double coil washers ended up on the floor. I have them all as far as I can see from the parts book, but I’m not entirely clear about the order of refitting. I’d be very grateful if someone would advise me.

2000 TC Series 2 1971 build. LHD. We need to have a new ignition/steering lock key cut and are trying to source a blank. Geoff Unwin from Wins Parts says we have to access the main shaft of the lock to see which brand the lock is Britax or Lowe and Fletcher. My question is how do you access the main shaft - I presume the steering wheel comes off and what else? Any thoughts?

Post a picture on here of your existing key, folks here will tell you which type you have.

Take out the “shin bin” glove box and you should be able to see the casting well enough to distinguish the two types. They will have the names cast in the metal but the L&F looks quite rounded in its overall appearance whereas the Britax looks more angular.

I’ve worked it out myself!

Thanks for replies and advice. The Poros team will remove the glove box and then employ s small child with torch to crawl in amongst the pedals and look for the lock name. I have a photo of the key that came with the car. There is a logo on the black plastic part which looks like the BL circular logo so doubt it is original. What we want is to have a spare "just in case" !!

It does not look like the shape of our key but you do have the BL symbol which I think is on ours. I have gone with cobraboy's advice that it could be a Lowe and Fletcher lock and the key pictured ilooks like a blank of ours and I've ordered it. The Wins ad. did say it was for cars built 1971 and after with an L and F lock so maybe your is an earlier model 2000 with a Britax lock. One more puzzle to solve! I'll let you know the outcome.
