Still no oil presure!!!!!!

you have to take the pump off on the p6 to fill it with vaseline on the p6 - the range rover probably has a remote oil filter which makes it easier?

You do indeed Rich! The pump cover must be removed and all the space around the gears which remain within the timing cover must be filled with vaseline. You must push as much in as you can, leaving no air pockets. I am not aware of Range Rovers having remote oil filters, rather the proximity of the oil pump cover to the sub frame etc allows more room.

yeah they are not remote but there are plenty of cases of this being done on all rover v8s so unless like you say its an acces issue then it must be doable and can save a lot of dismantling.

here we are , an excerpt from anothe conversation:

Also pressure relief plunger gets scored.
un screw blanking cap and remove spring and check plunger (scoring is sure sign of cooked oil)
(tadpole replacement available)

put Vaseline in grease gun or cake icing tool.

Disconnect king lead

squirt Vaseline at back of plunger hole, flick starter repeat (do 4 times)
refit relief valve assembly and king lead
Start and oil light should go straight out -if it doesn't repeat previous procedure as pump won't prime.
