I got the carb back from andrew turner this week and fitted it today,he has fixed his sticking float problem i hope!

it now runs much better- just need some fine tuning after i swap the overdrive tomorrow.

i have to say i also repaired and refitted the old choke cabe which looks and works much better than the modern crap the mechanic fitted!

made the mistake of fitting a new fuel filter eliment to the a/c bowl- pain in the arse that job is!

Well done , keep us posted , i'm thinking of doing float levels and shut off valve next week .

Good news you got the carb sorted. RE refitting you old choke cable. I sometimes think that, even if an old part looks a bit crusty, if it's still doing the job after 30+ years, is it really wise to swap it for a shiny new part that may turn out to be of inferior quality:?:

well the overdrive didnt come out today, a combination of lack of ramp time at work and the fact I learnt you had to drop the crossmember and gearbox to slide it in and out meant I spent today undersealing and haveing check the oil levels in the overdrive and box. since the last fill a month ago it hadnt lost much at all but then the car has done very few miles in that time!

we shall see.

Also after all the carb trouble I still have overflow bubbles after a run. I wonder if engine bay heat is boiling off the fuel in the float chambers when the engine is off, as I have full stainnless tubular manifolds under ther it can get abit warm and it was a hot day. hmmmm
