Tax free - 2000tc - lots of work done

Definitely not one I'd bid on without having a jolly good look at it first. It might just be unfortunate terminology but that word "plated" when applied to sills makes me shudder. While it photographs well, the condition sounds very similar to my own - i.e. lots of welding done, needs a full respray and probably a few replacement panels. That starting price would be right at the top of what I'd expect for mine.

Yep, plated does imply "so the MOT man can't poke a screwdriver through the floor" rather than serious restoration. But then the language could well be selling the car short.

Seems a shame they didn't pop the cover sill off and lift back the carpet. The shiny engine is nice, but...

After all if they are confident of their work then it could be a good advert.

And while I'm picking holes, the cynical reading of
"carbs could probably do with a tune up"
is
"engine just about runs, but major work required".

Thought I would ask him - the reply I got is this -

The passenger and driver foot wells had plates welded over. The inner and centre sills had sections made up and welded in and the engine bay welding had sections made and welded in - all the rust was cut out. It's been about 2 years since we did this car now. There were numerous other things done at the same time.

Judging by that pic of the engine out of the car, its had work.... The first thing that stands out is new side plates.

I'd go see it if I was looking for a 4 pot...

Wow, just checked to see how much this sold for in the end, thinking perhaps someone got a bargin at £1900 ish and it went for £3500!

Just one look at the bidders, and it looks very iffy!
Wouldnt surprise me to see it relisted soon!

I'd say that at least two of the three, possibly all of them, are dodgy!
