TC & SC interchangeable?

Hi all,

Ron is in need of some engine work, bottom end bearings and clutch at least..... But i have an option on a good TC engine.

How interchangeable are th sc an tc lumps? Can i fit all the bits off my existing sc to a tc engine?
For.instance, manifolds, gearbox, altrrnator, distributor and so on??

Bottom end of the motor is the same although TC may have higher compression pistons. The cylinder heads and manifolds are different. You can swap the complete assembly across though. If you want to convert from SC to TC you will need a complete TC motor with manifolds, carbs, air cleaner etc. Most external parts are interchangeable but check the year of the replacement motor. Most series ones had a dynamo with a shorter crank pulley and waterpump. All this can be swapped if you want. The TC exhaust manifold is a long tubular type so you will need a matching front exhaust section to go with it. A few TCs also had an oil cooler which means different pipework by the oil pump but this can also be swapped. Distributers are physically the same but would have different advance curves. Gearboxes are interchangeable, as are clutch and flywheel.
