Temp sender gasket

Hi all, I have changed this gasket on my V8 engine before but many years ago and I would appreciate any advice, I think the gasket is "weeping" occaisionally and I ought to look at fitting a new one, I do remember the 3 small setscrews being a bit of a devil to undo. Would I need a "paper" type gasket with some hermatite or is there better alternatives. Thanks in advance.

Hi Dave,

If you wish to change the gasket, then you'll need a new switch also as the old one will be destroyed when you attempt to remove it.

You can use any form of suitable temperature + coolant resistant sealant to accompany the cork gasket.

Mine broke open when attempting to replace the old leaking gasket . Years ago.
As I didn't have a new switch to fill the "hole" I put back the busted one and just added new sealant .
It still works fine , i.e. comes on when the choke is ready to be pushed back . WT ? magic ?
Im after a new switch - are they available?
If I get one , it will probably sit in my box of P6 tricks until I get a round tuit
I think they are called an "otter switch"

Hi All, my mistake, the last time I did this job (many years ago) I remember getting the "otter switch" out without damaging it and at the time I was on holiday so I used a piece of cornflakes box and some hermatite but I reckon I need to do a better job this time (the gasket that is in there now is not the cardboard one) when I had the car restored the guy sorted all these bits etc
Thanks all
Dave
