Just to add to the debate... here are the raised letter plates Framptons made me a few weeks ago.

Very pleased :D

Its good to see a place that does the proper rear size!
What price did they charge??

Pilkie, £44.95 for both plates including VAT and delivery. Fixings are £1 incl VAT per set and contain 4 black plastic nuts and bolts or 4 screws with black plastic head covers. I ordered both packs as I wanted the black nuts and bolts for fixing the front plate and the narrower screw ones for the back plate to give me scope for a perfect fit even if the holes I drilled in the plate were a thou or two out! Cheers Tony

Also from Framptons - The Standard for a Red V8 it seems... Mine are Acrylic Silverline Engraved.

I really must get the black paint out and paint behind my grill.

memories from a distant past came flooding back cos i remember having a job sometimes making numberplates in 1979!
i worked for a firm supplying garages etc with car stuff
the expensive plates were perspex and the metal circlip type the cheaper
ours were more expensive for they were perspex backed with aluminium and they were quality
rounded corners too!
a lot of perspex ones looked tatt and cheap in comparison
odd employment record i have mind!
i once worked as a phesant plucker!
honest!!!

Just a update. I just rang Framptons for a price for P6 size plates which I believe is standard front and larger (custom) rear. They just quoted me £84 for the pair and only available as pressed or raised text not perspex. As mine is a '76 car with black and silver plates I thought I'd put them back to stock but at that price I'd rather run the risk of a on the spot fine for now. I'l get a £10 pair of standard plates made up if pc plod decides to take a disliking to the current ones.

I'm a little surprised - mine were £49.95 the pair in 2010 :(
