Put in P6 on the FB search and you will find other P6 groups as well!

The Rover P6 Club has now been active on Facebook for over a year!
If you haven't joined or found us yet, then have a look here.

And dont forget to visit the Rover P6 Clubs new website!

All there to help every P6 owner in the world to enjoy your cars even more!!
Especially when you really need help, and for those looking to buy one!

Not everyone wants to use facebook, and this forum has a host of info and helpfull owners that you can search out if you need them!

Can help if you need an immediate response, however facebook doesn't have a vast archive of previous problems and how they were solved. Also I do feel slightly aggrieved on a personal level that the forum is less busy because people have moved to facebook.

A sign of the times I guess Richard. FB is on everyone's smartphone and they get an instant response to a query. In that respect if someone needs urgent help from the P6 community they will get it from FB. For a more in-depth response I always come here. Perhaps we should be using FB to direct people here if they need help, rather than answering the question directly in a FB thread?

Of course the big plus about the forum is that Harvey is not on FB :D

Totally agree Rich.

There are far more members on this forum than on the 2 facebook groups ive mentioned combined!
Also many will not want to participate on facebook due to the way it works and will stay here as harveyp6 does!
Both have a place in the P6 community, and I often refer/link to The Classic Rover Forum as a great source of info,as many have not heard of it yet!

mmmmm FB never gonna happen for me. I am happy with the forum as it is.

I agree with that, and I answered in brief my first FB query this morning, and then directed them to the more in depth post I had put up on here on the same subject :p

As far as the FB instant replies go, I have found plenty of examples of very quick responses on here, and I'm sure Harvey has posted the answer to some peoples questions before they have even asked them

Hi, Pah, newfangled nonsense!! This curmudgeon is staying here. What's that groaning noise? :)

I have never used Facebook, although in many instances it does have merit. For Rovers though, I don't see the point, especially when we have this forum.

Losing forum members to Facebook is very disappointing indeed!

Ron.

I have never really understood facebook, people updating that they are shopping or playing some game and got a new high level, My wife has an account but that's only to see what my daughter is up to, I will stick with forums for now.

totally agree mate

I think that "finding that quick answer" should not be encouraged, especially for people that are at the beginning of their involvement with the P6.

This forum should be treated like a library really, the accumulated knowledge within all those years worth of posts is invaluable.
The quality of the work of the contributors' projects is worth being used as the act to follow.

Got to embrace change.

P6 stuff does slow down in winter anyway so dont think people are jumping ship. Could be a good advert for the forum which has a vast amount of info. Would be interesting to compare reponse times to a query. Pretty sure we have had member broken down awaiting for recovery post questions and had a response before the aa arrived.

I dont do facebook or social media out with car forums. I am not an old guy either. I have been doing a project with unicef recently and it makes you think about what information you share online, can be scarey.

Not against FB or the likes but would check privacy settings and read small print. We are reasonable and honest people but not everyone is. Take precautions and you will be fine though.

More people talking about P6'can only be a good thing regardless of where and how.

I used to be on Farcebook, but a dust-up over politics at the school my kids were at and some nasty
comments by an ex-mate were the final nail in my FB account's coffin. I suspended my account a few
years back and have yet to find a compelling reason to restart it.
About the only useful thing I have seen on FB is the threads my wife found where the neighbourhood
we are in has a "Free to a good home/Recycle "page which led to the discovery of the Buy and Sell page
and the subsequent purchase of some lovely antique furniture pieces. FB does have some uses, but for
cars and bikes, I'll stick to this Forum, The V8 Forum, Aprilia Forum/AF1 Racing, and Guzzi Exchange,
thank you very much. :D

It's also worth mentioning that the Forum is available as a smartphone app through Tapatalk.
There is a post about it somewhere. I put it on my phone and it was very straightforward.
That then gives a direct link to the Forum from a mobile phone, which is much handier than going through Facebook

I think Rockdemon and Demetris have nailed it, this forum has been noticeably quiet for about a year I reckon.

I was briefly on a couple of the P6 FB groups, but left very quickly. I can't stand the group format on there, OK for sharing a few inspiring pictures or putting the heads up on a sale going, but anything with more substantial content like a project or technical problem, it's unsuitable in my opinion.

The traditional forum style is a brilliant tool for learning your way out of problems and helping others, and having a decent library to browse and scroll through is invaluable. The rise of the so-called smartphone with it's internet access has noticeably across a few forums I frequent lowered the quality of posting.

Thanks for that reminder. I now have Tapatalk on my phone so can access the forum through that now. Just need to figure out how to use it properly for notifications etc. It seems to show more than just the "new posts" that I usually look at when I log in to the forum :?
