There's no going back

Squashed Nose

I finally started working on WOW 847J yesterday, three weeks after purchasing it. I guess that's quicker than some.

Anyroadup, after fitting new plugs, points (outrageously expensive), condenser, rotor arm, air filters, oil, coolant and a battery (from a Renault but it fits nicely in the box) I fired it up. It ran rough on choke for a couple of minutes so I screwed in the rattling spark plug (I'd managed to tighten the other seven) and it settled to a purr. It really is very smooth.

Next I put it in drive. Familiar clunk from the BW35 (same as the one fitted to my 1973 P5B) and it crept forward. Put it in reverse and.......nothing. No clunk, no creep, nothing. The ATF is very low, I must go and buy some more but I don't think this is the cause. Any ideas?
