This was an excellent, well attended event. We were almost the last in and the P6's outnumbered everyone else. Must have been about 60 cars there total.

I fell for this beautiful 1964 'A' suffix 2000. A lovely car I never knew existed.

Did have some drama though. Just before we arrived at the venue I noticed my brake pedal had started misbehaving...I immediately thought 'master cylinder' and staggered on into the show. Only when we looked around the car on arrival did we ascertain there was fluid coming down from the rear of the car. Called the fourth emergency service who had a look and it was a metal brake pipe over the top of the nearside caliper which had been hit by the exhaust over a long period and had suddenly holed. The exhaust was done at least five years ago so it had obviously been a slow burning fault - and surprising it wasn't picked up on the MOT.

The AA guy, to his great credit, went away and made a new pipe for me, which once installed got me home with aplomb, solving the problem - he managed to re-route it to be well away from the exhaust. Brilliant service.

That seems to be excellent service from the AA; I didn't realise they would do that sort of thing at the roadside.

I agree that that 'A' suffix does look rather nice, it's surprising what still turns up.

I have had good service from the AA over the years. An Ipswich roadside repair to the P5b's fuel pump involving a pivot pin made from a spark plug cap is still in there & working fine eight years later. Touching wood as I type.

Most AA men would have towed the car away to a garage .I don't think they are allowed to repair brakes or steering

I was quite amazed as well. Brilliant stuff. I fully expected to be going home on a lorry... :D
