throttle rod and choke cable

hello one and all, can i have some help/info please, i have to reassemble the linkages to the SUs after refurbishing the heater assy, and i look at my manual and it shows the choke cable attached to the LH SU side if i have HIF6s (which i have), but the choke cable was attached to the RH SU ,as if i was supposed to have HS6s. But would it really matter? They linkages still seem to operate the same way.
Another question please, there is some play (sideways obviously) in the throttlle rod that goes through the firewall. the play can be taken up at the bracket just above the acelerator pedal, but is this necessary to do?
There would be approx 4mm of play
Thanks for any information , Karl

If anyone is tinkering, could you take a picture of the choke cable ferrule/ adjuster ( not the clamp) where the cable outer adjusts against the carburettor please ( 1973 V8) My adjuster is absent and I'll have to get searching on the internet!

All the best

Andrew W

On my car (HIF6) the ferrule at the end of the choke cable is clipped onto the carb with an R clip through a groove - not adjustable.
