Timing chain adjustable

Has anyone experience with an adjustable timing chain with a vernier cam sprocket ?
- when is it useful to adjust cam timing for a P6 V8,
- is it possible to compensate the stretch in the chain ? also after f.e. 50kkm
- is it the money worth while and what are the money saving alternatives ?

There won't be any need to compensate for a worn chain because if you fit a vernier cam gear you'll be fitting a new chain anyway, and in a further 50kkm if the new chain is worn that much by then, adjusting it on the vernier won't cure it.

I'd say a vernier gear is a bit OTT on a standard engine, a steel cam gear and chain set would be plenty good enough.

V8 Developments has a very informative site, ist shows, what you should done BEFORE using an adjustable timing chain set :
V8 Developments - Camshaft Timing
So, it would be interesting, what you´ve already done on your engine or if you start with an original P6 (S1, S2 ?) engine.

I fitted a all steel cam gear in place of nylon one, Used standard chain and was a cheap upgrade at that time.
Not sure if Real Steel still do them.

They offer now also a "Street True Roller Kit", which is a cheaper alternative to the adjustable one. Bought one.

I replaced mine with an all-steel roller type that has 3 alternative timings, +3°, 0 and -3° rather than a true vernier type of adjustment (got it from Real Steel so could be the same one Jörg mentions above). As far as I could tell from loads of internet searching, its unlikely that advancing or retarding the cam timing would have much of a noticeable affect on a standard engine - the main benefit is a longer life and less wear so the cam timing doesn't vary as much.

Hey, funny, it did not realize, that the cheaper kit (61,27 GBP at Real Steel) has 3 keyways, I did not install it yet :)
