Top link mount in boot

Hi all.
Is anyone is breaking a p6 and can cut out the section,"about 6" all round should do" in the boot where the n/s top link mounts?
Can fix it for its mot,but I want to do a better job later in the year!!
PM me..
Cheers Dave

A panel is available from Wadhams!!
I don't know how good or bad it is,but I have an issue with their attitude, and pricing, and wont use them!
Even if they are supposedly the only supplier that you can get it from!!
Monopolies don't carry favour with me!!
Anyway I prefer an original part from a willing donor rather than that.

He may well do!
Probably cheaper as well!!
Its all fixed and so beefed up around the hole that a replacement panel will be weaker!
Its mainly that I want a larger section around the hole to reinforce the whole area,so if someone does have one they can chop out 6"around the area that would be great.

I have used the repair section and it is fine, I actually have an unused drivers side repair panel which I ordered by accident.

In retrospect I would have made one up. Get some steel and a hammer. But if you can get a whole section cut it would be good although the metal goes weak there.

There is a couple of pictures on my webfolder. click my home page link.

I know it goes weak thats why I want to double the thickness!
I can and probably will end up fabricating my own double thick section if I cannot get hold of one,or even 2!
Ive broke a few p6 in my time and all were rusty,so I couldnt salvage that area.

The other side of my boot has a plain square plate on it.

Did you see the addtional bracket that has been done? I think SOWEN did one for his car.

I usually make them up out of something substancial. Never knew they made one
Think you'd be hard pushed to find a breaker that wasn't dodgy there :)

You're quite right, however I'm often very suprised at the 'oddities' that come up from time to time. My '64 2000 was shot throughout the sills, D-posts, inner wings etc, etc, BUT was perfect on the boot walls

My series 1 V8 is great almost everywhere including boot walls, but has a perforated vertical panel above the curved D-post area, which I've never seen before :?

Thanks go to Kev, "hermione 149", for the one he cut out of one of his spares cars.
Swapped it for a 17" badge bar,"just the bar",as some little oik nicked his with the family heirloom AA badge!
Another would be good,so I can double it up!
Although I can use this one as a pattern to craft another out of sheet steel, that or beef it up a tad before it goes on!
Thankfully the d/s one is as solid as a tank!
