I have eventually got round to tackling what I think is the last job on JVY before I can put her in for an MOT (after failing last June!).
I had an advisory from the last MOT that the front brake imbalance was close to failing. So, after a bit of investigation, I found that the front NS caliper was binding slightly. TBH, ever since I got the car, on longer runs I could sometimes feel a very slight shudder that I suspected was coming from the front NS brakes.
I have ordered a seal kits so that I can refurb the caliper. Just to be safe, I will replace the flexible hose as well (have read too many posts on here about internally collapsing hoses). I had a lot of bother getting the outer piston removed, so I suspect this was the problem (i.e. only the inner piston was opertaing - this would explain the imbalance?). Anyway, I reckon the pistons were starting to seize due to the rubber boots on both having perished a bit. I found some corrosion on the piston surfaces, so reckon that air was coming through the perished boots and causing surface corrosion on the wall of the piston.
While awaiting the parts I have cleaned up and painted the calipers. However, one bit of info not in my Haynes Manual is the torque settings for the four HT bolts that hold the caliper halves together. Can anyone help please :?:

BTW, the caliper paint I got was from Halfords. It says on the can something like it will give my car a "sporty & dynamic appearance"
