Tyres for P6

Hi
The problem I found was at the rear, with tyres catching the bulkhead area behind the door.
I have fitted 195/70's on 5.5 J rims OK, these are slightly lower than standard 185's. Being modern tyres the width of tread on the road is greatly increased and the handling is much sharper, they could have been made for the car.

There are many tyre size comparison checkers on the web, I use Toyo tyres myself. Perhaps 205 mm would be best on your 6J rims as long as the offset is not so much to make them catch on the bodywork.

195/70 were a very close match on size compared to 165's of my 2.2tc
They fitted 195/70's as standard to 820e and 820i in the late eighties, but they aren't a common tyre, you'll find 205/65 easier and cheaper to find, but as mentioned might not fit too well in the arches.

Hi Petter

If you have not done so already I would make sure that they will fit before ordering. Wheel and tyre combinations are varible things. I was able to get a tyre fitter to fit a old (free) tyre to a wheel so i could bolt it on and check
