UCA 445J Project?!?

Had my 3500 about 5 months now, welded both sill bottoms and "D" posts.
Rear susp and drive removed.
Finally got to paint under the rear.

some extensive work going on there!

Did you apply any rust preventer type paint? a few of us on here have had a good experience with epoxy mastic 121...

After all the old underseal and oil(I think it had been regularly oil spayed underneath) had been cleaned off any surface rust wes rubbed down and treated with a rust convertor. the arches were stone chipped, then everything sprayed with 1K chassis paint in the origional colour.
The blue piece is a repair to the boot floor (it had rustd from the inside) made using a piece of transit floor section. I had to use it upside down to get the corrigations something like.

Waiting for brake flexys, drive shaft uj's some suspension rubbers.

One question, the drive shaft "sheilds" have split, are they neccesary?

Hi Jim,

There is a lot of work, but persistance is paying off. :)

Are you going to use a black underseal of some kind? On the question of the rubber dust shields around the half shafts, these were fitted before the yoke is welded to the shaft. I assume that their function was to reduce the total volume of dust or indeed water that the inner uni joint would ultimately be exposed to. Being closer to the wheel, they will see rather more compared to the inner pair in most cases.

Look forward to seeing more photos of your progress.
Ron.
