1 Upper Vibration damper for a ROVER P6 2000 TC urgently needed! Can anyone help?

Thanks so much everyone.

Harry

some people refer to them as timing chain guides, its a bracket that bolts below the upper timing chain and the chain rubs along it. Not the tensioner though.

Thanks

Gotcha.
I can see one. It's on a spare, topless engine in my garage, just about get-at-able but not until tomorrow evening. I can't see what condition it's in - do they wear?
I'm half remembering that they're not straightforward to remove - is there a knack? Or am I remembering wrong?

Anyway, if nobody else comes up with one first, I'm willing to have a go tomorrow evening.

You're in the UK, are you?

Thanks! To remove it the head and the sump need to both be off, so I've been told. I think it should be easy to remove. That would be brilliant, could you let me know the condition of it if you get it off ok? I live in the U.K yeah, in Leicestershire :)

Thanks alot!

You have been misinformed.

Ah, removing the sump is a problem as the engine's half buried.

Removing the top one doesn't need the sump to be off.

That's good. The front of this spare engine is accessible so I ought to be able to get it off, then check its condition.
7/16" bolts I assume. One accessed with the bung/plug removed?

OK, it's off. I was right - they are a bugger to remove! You have to take out the lower one as well because the bracket on the upper one can't be wriggled past it.
Anyway, the good news is that it has minor score marks at the very top for about half an inch, then the rest is as clean as a whistle.
So Harry, what's it worth to you? I'm a generous soul, but remember I have just spent nearly an hour on my knees in the cold garage.
For postage, it weighs 450g snug in a jiffy bag. I have a Paypal account (PM me) and can post it tomorrow via whatever method you prefer.

Hi there!

Thanks for sorting that, I came across one yesterday, but I would still quite like to purchase it as a spare, how does £20 + postage sound? No longer a rush :)

Thanks again!

Hi Harry, I'm more than happy with that. Can you donate it to the forum using the button on the front page? Then PM me your address and I'll post it when I get home, next Wed. :D

Hi there, thats fine, whats the total amount? £20?

Is that all I need to do? Donate it to the forum?

Cheers,
Harry

Hi Harry,
Yes, 20 pounds total, just donate it to the forum. It goes towards the hosting costs.
But... don't feel under any obligation to take this spare if you no longer really need it. I'll just as happily put it aside for a rainy day myself. Entirely your choice. :)

I'll have it yeah, the other one that arrived was the wrong part! Ok I'll put the payment through tomorrow, thanks very much once again,

Harry
