Has anybody got a spare speedo for sale for a 3500s. My one under reads as I have an SD1 gearbox, minilites etc, so need a good working one to send off to be recalibrated.

Many thanks.

Surprised your speedo should under-read. The SD1 box shouldn't affect the issue as the drive is off the tailshaft. Have you got under diameter tyres?

Chris

'Morning all, I too have a SD1 box fitted to my P6b which under-reads. For example, when I'm doing 30mph it reads 25. I still have the standard/original size wheels and tyres fitted to my car. My Dad fitted the box and just put up with the fact it mis-read, but i find it's a pain in the a**e because I sometimes forget. I was also thinking about having my speedo re-calibrated but don't know where to get it done? Will.

The gearing for the speedo drive is different on the LT77. I used to have a couple of tippex marks on Thunderdog at 30mph and 60mph to remind me. Sparky has a calibrated speedo and reads 70mph at 70mph on the sat nav, so pretty much spot on.

Willmills71 - I can let you have the info on the company who calibrated mine if you like?

What you need there is what's called a "W" figure which in the case of a car speedo is the number of turns per mile produced by the speedo output on the gearbox then if you send the speedo away with that figure they should be able to set up the "K" factor which is the number of turns required by the speedo to produce one mile.

Will in your case I have a turns counter at work & we are only in Cramlington so I could work it out for you on my test track providing there is a way of attaching the counter to the gearbox

Regards Colin

I don't know if this will help, but I shamelessly stole this off another site....

? , (25 teeth, white) axle ratio ?
I can't help with the missing ones, but there must be someone here who knows.

Diff ratio, tyre size, no. of teeth on speedo drive and speedo. Its a common procedure. I just wanted an extra speedo so as not to be without one.

V8 speedo drive is orange 20 tooth --- no point quoting electronic ones as you have to use manual speedo drive anyway for P6 speedo. Mine was a late 1986, electronic, pulled it out and replaced with manual.

I've got a speedo, think its for a v8 or maybe a 2200tc I can send out to you. I'm in Edinburgh, if you cover the postage I'll send it out.

To Quattro and 2Diesels, sorry for the late reply, I havn't been on the forum in a while.

Quattro, the company info on who calibrated your speedo would be good to know. Roughly, how much do they charge? just so I have an Idea of what to budget for! (i'm not a cheapskate, just a skint student! haha)

Colin (2Diesels), the turns counter/test track seems like a good plan. I'll have some spare time soon and as you say you're just up the road.

Will.

Hi Wills

The speedo was done a long time before I bought the car, so I don't know what these peeps are like.

In July of 2006, they charged £64.63 including vat and carriage. All you have to send them is the old speedo, the distance from the centre of the wheel to the ground with the tyres at the correct pressure, how many inches (or cm) for one full turn of the wheel, and how many cable turns for 6 wheel revolutions - or at least that's what was sent when Sparky's was done.

Company was called Speedy Cables and were in Swansea on 01639 732213

Hope that helps.

a mate of mine used speedy cables and was happy enough.
i plug in the sat nav on my v8 which tells me the speed,
then i totally ignore it!
