V8 Dipstick

I have been contacted by Tony Jones who has a 10.5:1 3.5V8 From an S, installed in a Series 2A Landrover.
For some reason the engine has no dipstick tube or dipstick. He has been unable to find one, so has asked if I can get dimensions for the standard tube / stick, or even better source one maybe from a scrap engine.

Does anybody have a disptick & tube available, or is anybody willing to measure them (and possibly post pics) so Tony can knock something up.

Thanks

Should have those, I'll have a look and report back later. I may be some time........................... :D

I'm afraid not, it would seem that the "Garage Pixies" have nicked the one that I'm sure that I had.........

I've not yet refitted my dipstick and tube. I'll measure up and post a few pics a bit later.

Hi Richard,

Assuming no-one's got a spare, spare...and with the caveat of there being 2 different dipstick/tube arrangements, mine being the later, some pics & dimensions...

Part Numbers, showing point of change to the later arrangement...

Pictures...

Dimensions of the business end are:
Tube is 1/4" ID x 5/16" OD, and the distance from under the collar flange (i.e. the block deck) is 9.1/4" This part of the tube is straight...well it would be, wouldn't it! :)

Dipstick blade measures 3/16" wide x .080" thick.

Looking at the last picture, distance from under the collar flange is 11.7/16" to HIGH, 12.1/2" to LOW, and 13.1/2" overall. There's a 3rd line above the HIGH mark - don't think it means anything?...I ignore it anyway!

If you want dimensions of the non-business end, let me know.

Tony has had a look at the information and sent over this email....

Hi Richard,

Stan is clearly the man!

Thank you very much for finding this info for me - yourself and Stan have saved me a massive headache!

Thankyou once again - I will begin work on it this weekend!

All the best,

Tony
