can anybody help?I left my v8 in the garage for a week after i had taken her for a run ,when i started her up (first turn of the key)i discovered that the oil pressure gauge was not moveing, but the car had run for about two minutes before i realised this.Could i have damaged something, why is there no pressure ?i had changed the oil 300 miles previously when i also put a product called slik 50 in, could this be the problem?what are the other possibleties?please help .

It could be that the oil pressure sender has failed - Did the red warning light go out?. Check the spade connector on the sender isnt loose.

Where is the sender for the red light please? Ive got great pressure - the gauge says so, but the light never goes out! Ive got a new sender, but cant find teh old one and the manaual is less than helpful...

I know this sounds daft - have you checked the oil level with dipstick? If your pressure is OK but the oil light stays on - could be a bit low?

Both the sender for the pressure guage and the switch for the red oil light are on the oil pump body. The one with the smaller body is the switch and the larger body is the guage sender.

Low oil level won't cause the oil light to come on, the switch is just set to open when the oil pressure rises above about 5/10 psi.

You might want to try this...

My oil gauge started playing up last week due to what I think is a loose electrical connection in the dash (haven't pulled apart yet). But pushing the dash cover under the middle of the bottom of the gauge starts it working again.

Thanks guys. Now the snow is gone and I can see the garage again I 'll have a poke at the weekend - the prodding the dash idea sounds promising as the rev counter has stopped as well...

Will post back results ASAP
