V8 servo ratio

Does anyone know what the correct servo ratio is for a late V8 auto with a Lockheed servo so I can source one on Ebay for sensible money? The vacuum side of the servo is OK but the seals have given up letting all the fluid escape into the vacuum tank.

New boosters that are correct for the Rover (V8 and 4 cylinder boosters are different) are extremely rare and in essence a waist of money. I say that because the slave cylinder and air conrol valve cylinder are in mild steel which will suffer from pit corrosion. Resleeving is then the only option for continued use.

I feel it is much better to have your existing booster overhauled.

I now have the servo in bits on the bench and the inside of the vacuum chamber is nice and shiny, the big diaphram is fine as is the small one under the plastic cover on the side. The cylinder bore also looks to be in perfect condition so I might just try and re-seal it and see how it goes. I cant really understand why it lost its fluid though as the seals also look in perfect condition, unless they have just shrunk.

In many instances, worn brake seals and new ones look almost identical, so it is not always easy to spot.

By the sound of it, your slave cylinder has already been resleeved which is a good thing.

Don't even consider putting back the old seals though!! False economy and it will leak right from the start. The only rubber items that you can reuse are the two diaphragms, vacuum and air valve chamber. All others within the slave cylinder MUST be replaced with new items.

I'd second Ron's advice. Don't waste your time, get it re-sleeved. I paid about £130 including carriage fees. That included a rebuilt air-valve and all parts re-plated/painted. Didn't include the vacuum unit itself, just the cylinder but that is unlikely to require anything other than repainting and the rubber diaphragm shouldn't need replacement unless obviously damaged.

The joy at opening the bonnet and seeing the brake fluid isn't disappearing constantly is well the money
