V8 Water pump advice please

Have been working towards getting my P6 up and running again I am changing the water pump, it has been a tough job (for me), most bolts snapped. Each different type of stud remover I tried removed more bolts but now I think I have three remaining to get out, and have asked a friendly welder for help. My question is how many locating lugs should there be, is it two. I don't want to try to remove lugs and so much time has passed I can't tell my lugs from snapped bolts.

Also presuming I get there without removing the timing cover I recall forum advice about coating my new pump gasket with blue hylomar, does this mean both sides, any advice or tips greatfully received. I have tried to upload a photo so the lugs are visible.

That is perfect, thanks.

Unfortunately it has all gone a bit wrong, the welder could not free the studs and I drilled them out today. I tried the new bolts but then found that one of the long ones would not go in, it seems that the thread is snapped off deep in the timing cover.

I am not sure if I am up to taking the timing cover off so wondering what to do next..

Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a bit of a dilemma. No criticism labelled at you, but this is a perfect illustration of why it is essential to use an anti seize lubricant. Putting dissimilar metals together in the presence of an electrolyte is the perfect way to introduce corrosion, hence the need for a suitable means of corrosion prevention.
