vibrations

hi all,
I changed my motor,0 flywheel I have taken from the old motor, the clutch is new and the motor silents are also new. I have vibration when accelerating from 1900 to 2100 rpm. the exhaust hangs well, and the joints of the drive shafts are well. I thought it is the propeller shaft, gearbox or suspension of the, but the suspicion has not been confirmed apparently.

where could come the imbalance?

Best Regards
Jorgen

Has Rover balanced the crankshaft include the flywheel (and Clutch), or is the flywheel with the clutch balanced separately?

Regards Jorgen

Hi Jorgen,

Vibrations can originate from quite a number of areas. When you say that you changed your engine, does the new engine have a balance ring attached to the crankshaft damper?

If you select neutral and rev your engine while the car is stationary, can you feel the vibration or does the vibration only occur when the car is driven along the road?

Ron.

Hi Dave, in all Gears at the same RPM. what do you think?

That sounds engine related then, so you should be able to get the same fault at the same RPM when at a standstill.

I've always wondered if the carbs being out of balance would have a simailar effect ?

Yes it can be. I've had several P5B's where there's a vibration at certain speeds, so much so that the interior mirror vibrates so much as to be useless, and that has been cured by sorting the carbs.

Does your engine vibrate Dave?

There are times when it's cold and feels a bit harsh but can be smoothed out depending on the position of the choke
My thoughts are that 4 cylinders working harder than the other 4 is the same as being out of balance
