WANTED - Air Con Switch Panel

Hello fellow sufferers,

I know I'm asking for the impossible & don't all laugh at once, but does anybody have a spare switch panel for an air-con car, preferably a home market ( without electric window markings ) one, although I know I can't be too fussy! I need one that isn't cracked. Mine is and I have just had a look at my N.O.S. spare , which was still in it's bag & that's cracked too! Brilliant! You wonder why you bother sometimes. Could also do with the carb fuel link pipe for air-con cars with HIF6 carbs. Maybe I have something you require in exchange? I'm sitting on a large pile of new & s/h parts after 20 years P6 ownership.

Here's hoping!

Roly.

The switch panel is the same whether it has electric windows or not. The only difference if you don't have electric windows is a cover panel that goes over the switch area..

No, the switch panel is different. Home market air-con cars don't have the illuminated lettering for the window lift switches.

Aside from Ian, the only other person with any NADA/Air Con expertise/bits is Pierre at RPS (02086969645, 07860276791, pjemail@aol.com). Note he runs RPS as a semi hobby so may be at work.

Thanks Chris. Unfortunately, my cracked spare was bought from Pierre a little while ago. I think I got his only new one. Bugger! I also had a 2nd hand one from him as well and that's not brilliant. Maybe I'm just too fussy!

The other approach may be to try making one. This is (probably) not as difficult as it sounds. Basically you need to track down a decent copy shop cum sign maker. They should be able to print onto perspex from an original done in word or w h y. So start with smoked perspex of the appropriate thickness, mark out shape required, holes for knobs etc, then print the white lettering onto the rear, then overspray the whole of the rear black. As I recall this then allows the dashboard lighting to travel within the perspex, highlighting the lettering. I've had something very similar done a good few years back now for a piece of earth moving machinery. I get vinyl labels made up as required the same way - they can also work off photo's and photocopies.

I haven't had the need to have my A/C facia done yet as it's still perfect (sorry!!)

Chris
