And they have got metal inserts in the bushes that often dont fit!!
When I sent the well known seller a Q about them I was ignored!! :x

I have bought them, theyd better fit or they will ganing straight back, top money for them but needed them and couldnt get them any where else as they are like rocking horse s##t Bri

Some have said the bushing is too small, others too large!!
If too small dont attempt to drill out the sleeve as the heat will affect the rubber.
If too big, again dont fit,as the slack will cause clonking and premature bush wear!
Its only my opinion, but this seller should know better by now!!!
Hopefully he has sorted out any past problems, and these are the correctly internally valved ones for the P6 as they work opposite to most dampers!
Good luck, and please let us know the outcome, whatever it is!!

i have emailed him and asked him if he would guarentee the shockers fitting my car and he said there are genuine rover items and that they will fit,we will see Bri :x

Yep, they're the ones.

Gone up a bit, they were £90.00 including carriage

They may well be marked up on the boxes as P6 ones, they may even be valved up the correct way for a P6, but those bushes with a metal tube insert are not the correct P6 ones, and even if they fitted over the mounting pins they are going to be metal on metal, which I would be noisy I would think and a bad idea all round. If those inserts and rubbers can be removed, and replaced with the correct ones, then if they are valved correctly, and the P6 rubbers fit them properly then they should be OK. But as they stand I wouldn't be trying to fit them with those bushes. Seems strange that as the P6 front shocks are unique in the way they operate AFAIK, and they only use the one type of mounting, why would Armstrong be making them with different mounting rubbers altogether if indeed they were specifically manufactured for that one application.

Given that they will fit with removal of metal bush and use of proper bushes, how can we tell if they are valved correctly?
Probably a daft Q!! But would it be theoretically possible to fit them upside down?
Not that I am going to buy any,as I am fortunate to have 3 nos sets in stock!,,
And no chaps I dont want to sell any!!

They'll still work the same whatever way up they are, it's the damping being on expansion rather than compression that's the difference with "normal" shocks, and that will be the same whatever way up they are. (Unless these were destined for the Australian market, everything was upsidedown there......... )

You can check them as they do operate easier one way than the other, but you'd need to compare with a new one for say a Cortina which works "normally". Put a bar through each bush then stand on the ends of the bottom bar while pulling up the top one with the damper upright, do this several times and you'll notice the difference. You should do this to bleed them before fitting anyway.

Pierre Janusz still had the proper Woodhead ones with un-sleeved 2 piece bushes when I needed them 2 years ago. Probably worth a call,
Roly.

If someone has discovered alternatives which fit with the bushes being changed , can they post the part numbers so we can see what car they were from ?

i have emailed him and said i dont want them,he said if i reimburse him £3.50 4 listing fees it will b ok,cant be any fairer, but if they are not genuine ones 4 the p6 why advertise saying they are?THANKS Bri

I may have this wrong, but isn't he and the ebay seller one and the same person?
