Wanted - Radiator for TC

Hi

My radiator from my 1967 2000TC is shot - it needs total re-coring apparently. As for this model, this costs £200-£250 (confirmed by my local re-corer and Wins Ltd), I was wondering if anyone had one if these to spare please?

It has the integral Oil Cooler and an expansion tank on the Nearside (see photo)

Also, if anyone knows where I might get it re-cored cheaper (apparently it is rare and because of the oil cooler and the tanks will cost much more than a standard TC radiator) that would be good.

Or do I lose the oil cooler and change it to a more standard type (how easy would this be?) which would only cost about £150? However, I would like to keep the oil cooler if at all possible.

Thanks

Simon

I'd go for a standard radiator and separate oil cooler if needed ( where do you live ?)
I can't see a hot radiator doing much cooling to the oil and it's less to go wrong

It was described on this site how to fit a Jegs 555-52005 Universal radiator to a 2000TC. You would need to fit an external oil cooler though. I would recommend continuing to have an oil cooler. I own 2 Rover 2000's one with an oil cooler, and the other without, and I am of the opinion that they make a difference.

http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/52005/10002/-1. The price is 139 US dollars, and with the weak US currency might be viable to ship. 139 USD works out to be 82 british pounds.

James.

In 1968 Rover changed the radiator in the 2000 TC for a horizontal flow type and at the same time fitted a separate oil cooler behind the offside front valance. This is what my 1970 2000 TC has. If you are not desperate to retain your car in its original form, you can always upgrade to the later specification.

Well, I finally bit the bullet.........

Local radiator guy - £240 for the re-core and............. £60 for the reconditioning of the tanks (he advised it). I did think of the alternative radiator strategy, but once I added it up with extra oil cooler etc it would have been nearly £200 including postage so I went with originality.

...........he also noticed the radiator was twisted and suggested the car might have been in a crash. Will have to check the front very carefully later!

Thanks for your ideas

Simon
