What´s wrong? - BW 35 Autobox

Hello!
I wonder if anybody could give me a hint what could be wrong with the gearbox (BW35) in my -73 P6 3500.
It just doesn´t drive at all!
Any simple cures on that....? :(

I´m quite familiar with working on Rovers (after a dozen LR rebuilds) but don´t really want to dig into an autobox. I read somewhere that the Volvo 160 had a BW35 as well and I can pick up a working one here in Sweden for reasonable money. But is it a straight forward switch? Or am I into a lot of fiddling there?

Any hints are welcome!

regards,
/Peter

Hi Peter,
Sorry to hear of your problem. Are there any other symptoms? Did it happen suddenly? Any noises? Is the fluid level and colour ok? Any fluid leaks? Is the linkage between the gear selector and the box working ok?
It is unusual for an autobox to just stop working completely if the fluid level is ok. I have had a flex plate fail completely causing the front spigot of the torque converter to shear, dumping all the fliud, but if this had happened you wouldn't need to ask!
Can you describe the situation a bit more please?

Nick

Thanks for the swift reply Nick!

The problem is that I just bought it in this state and haven´t had the chance to dig into the problem yet.
I´ll get into it as soon as I can and hope I can get back to You with more details after the Holidays. If that´s ok?
Iv´e only had one autobox, the Torqueflite in a RR, before so I do need some advise.

As I understood it, from the previous owner, there wasn´t any drive at all.
He didn´t mention any leaks either. Just that he used the car for "playing around" and now it stood still...

Perhaps it´s only a UJ that´s clear off....:D ;)

/Peter
