Whats the difference: Sills

Im looking on the J R Wadhams site and they sell inner sills and base unit side and bottom repair sections.
Whats the difference? I dont mean to sound thick but is the repair section literally a repair section if you dont need to renew the whole sill?
I need lots of advise, I think im going to go for a full blown restoration but i dont know whether its worth doing, if you see what i mean.
Thanks
Rob

Hi Rob,

Inner sills are always a repair sections as they are never issued by Rover as an seperate part as it was part of the floorpressing. It gives you about 4 cm. at the bottom to weld to the floor. Does have all the pressed dishes facing in the right direction, at least the one I've got. ' Base unit side ' could be an original Rover part (36621 and 36622).

I don't understand the bottom repair sections, could be the outer sill or the support's for the posts that are spotwelded to the outer sill. Best is to give them a ring. And the personal satisfaction of driving a car that you've restored yourself to your own standard must count for something that can't be put into cash? 8)

Hope to have awnsered your questions and good luck!

Thanks for the reply.
The diagram shows the sill as a full length one, I suppose that is just artistic licence then
I shall contact them in due course, when ive got sufficient funds to go for it.
Thanks!

I've just used one of their sill section to repair my car, they are well made and a fair price. Their terminology is:-

outer sill - the cosmetic bit that screws on
Inner sill - the bit you can see when the above is removed
Base unit repair - the inside bit with carpet on.

The inner sill is as the factory pressing would be and you can spot well it in place is you remove the door steps, A and D posts.

I chose to trim mine down and overlap the original steel between the jacking points, but at the end you can see it's full height.

Paul, thanks for the additional info, the picture says a thousand words!
Yes, the prices seem to be very reasonable, especially when you know it will be a good fit and its got to be preferable to the ball ache of fabricating whacking great repair sections.
Ive just had a re read through your 2000 project, christ, you make it look so easy
Its very inspiring, thank you!
