Wheel Offsets

I don't think there's enough metal in the hub to accept a skim
That kind of modification will not please your Insurers if you have an accident

Al's tyres are undersize - standard (and 205/65 X 15) is 651mm rolling diameter, the 205/50 X 16's are 611mm which takes him 20mm away from the key D post area.

Only real way to check is to go and have a look and measure them up, but I think he sold that car didn't he? Are you still on the forum Al?

Yep, I still pop in from time to time, you are right my tyres were slightly undersize, but there was a lot of space in the rear arch and I probably could have gone to a higher profile with no problems. The spacers at the front were to clear the suspension upright they were 5mm I think.

I still have a Rover 'T' series engine waiting to go into a P6 when I get the chance, but this one will be a complete build from a bare shell, with very few original parts so a bit of bodywork butchery to get big wheels on won't be a problem!!!

and finally if you want to use any pics of my old car from www.p-six.co.uk please feel free

Cheers
AL

You'll have to let me know how the T series conversion goes, as I'm doing the same.

Did you notice any problems with the rear tyres when the boot was fully loaded, and maybe a couple of rear passengers ?

Thanks for the use of the photo's.

No not at all, with the original wheels in the boot and two passengers not a problem, the only rubbing I got was on the front where the balancing weights would sometimes rub on full lock, easily sorted with those stick on ones that go inside the wheel. as for the T series conversion will probably be a while before anything gets done only got the engine at the moment, have just moved house, got to get the wifes beetle MOT'd sell, the Saab, finish the bike re-build, then find a suitably sound shell and a Jag rear end!!
Cheers
Al
