When are tight valve clearances too tight to ignore?

Bronze valve seats are a new one on me! I've not heard of them in the UK. Must have a bit of a google later....

Hehe, indeed!

I was surprised to find that my valve clearances had grown during the run-in period as well! I put it down to all of the individual components, which were mostly new, being squished together in operation. I put a blob of oil on the shims and inside the bucket, and no matter how hard you push them down to settle them, there's no match for a repeated bashing with a camshaft! They'd only grown by 3 or 4 thou.
