Why do people buy and run classic cars

I agree with most of the above and am amazed there are so many of you out there who, like me, enjoy regularly driving your classic cars (often regardless of the weather) instead of hiding them away in a garage under a dust sheet.
You've got to drive them while you can - you are a long time dead!!
A few weeks ago I took my recently bought 3500S on a 1000-mile round trip from my home in Cheshire to Cornwall and back and enjoyed every single minute of it.
What I love most about the Rover is firstly the smell of it when I climb in and secondly the incredible smoothness of the ride.
I am currently sitting in Rye in Sussex where I am enjoying a week's holiday with my wife - but this time we came in my other classic, a 1978 Datsun 260Z. Filled it back up with petrol when we got here and was stunned to find it had given me 31.2 mpg. No bad for a 2.6 litre straight six that is 38 years old!

Aah the 24ounce- One of those flagship jap cars that made the car industry sit up and take notice . It had style ,performance , loaded with goodies and cheap in comparison to the stuff coming out of Europe. Nice car Mr.

Saw your lovely datsun parked up in rye opposite bowling green. Always wanted one of those well engineered and a great shape.

Hi
My uncle has a 71 240 which he has owned for over 30 years they sound great and have a super smooth engine.
They still look the biz.
Clive.

Exactly the reason I wanted a P6b- and I got the build quality and engineering for free!! Better colours to choose from too.o_Oh did I mention the V8 burble ?

Yes - that's where I am right now! Amazing you should see it. Knock on the door if you are passing - though most days we are out and about!

Shame you weren't in your P6 and me in mine as you would probably have pulled over? Is yours in that dove grey that looks green? Love that colour. You are right, it is a small world.

It's called lunar grey but yes it's green. It's a 75 2200tc with 38000 genuine on clock. Have never seen another p6 when I've been out in him. Getting rare !

I bought mine to drive and also to carry passengers. mum in law ( nearly 90) loves sitting in rear seat. wife enjoys ride comfort . my only real complaint is that it leans heavily on corners and that can be a tad mind focusing! normal niggles such as no power steering and having to er ...arrange funding of spares in a manner not to upset other half ( bit of a money pit sadly) admired these when I was a kid and I think its underrated both as good looking and decent all rounder with lower values than many old Ford's but here I suspect there are many more Ford buyers( ex owners) out there so like anything . its buyers whom drive values. ( pity no film stars or footballers own one-ingainbe of roger moore or sean connery etc had or did own one) still giving me grief on things like handbrake being really poor and over heating in slow traffic but I am not prepared to set it alight or bash it to bits with a sledge hammer ( yet) luckily I live very near plough corner so see great deal of cars as well as having shown own there. even counted 5 other rover p6 last year. though sadly only a few turned up at last event. as to mine : 3500 series 2b auto that will need front seats sorting in a couple of years time the existing cloth seats will no longer be usable due to wear etc.
other than dropping by Wins international on way back for airport to collect a few more spares.. ( i ought to have bought shares in that company ) hers hoping to see my car enjoy many more years survival. ps: I never drive it in rain and use 'waterless' wash system to clean it. thought being that it has not seen water for 15 years . so why start risking feeding rust bugs now.
