went for the MOT yesterday which she but now suddenly the windscreen wipers dont come on and the heater fan doesnt kick in both of these were working fine day before, are they connected in any way?

There is a live feed on my car (may be different on yours - check the wiring diagram) which feeds the top of fuse 21:22. This feeds the wipers. The top of this fuse also feeds the top of 23:24 which runs the heater motor, and fuse 3:4 which feeds the heated rear window.
If yours is the same as mine, you can just check the bottom of these fuses for current (have you got a voltmeter) with the ignition turned on.
No current could just mean a dirty or loose contact on the top left hand blade of fuse 21:22.
Check that the fuses are 31mm long and not 28mm as this can cause overheating problems

yeah thankfully with a quick check from my multimeter i realised the problem quick once over with some emery and all fine now, the whole length of fuses thing spotted that on another post, isnt it wonderful how old cars have so many funny little problems that truly dont make any sense, will check our fuses to make sure they are the right length.
