Winter time for your P6

mine stays off the road around this time of the year unless she needs doing somthing then she comes out of her garage well all year round mine is covered under the cover out side the house or parked in her garage

I have a set of 1950's 18" high drive on ramps with detachable slopes.
Bung it up on those for easy access.

I choose not to drive mine through the winter months simply because I dont trust the other drivers out there who dont know how to drive in wet, icey or snow conditions and then theres the fog and I dont want rear fog lights on my p6. Shes safer hibernating under her car cover :)

Mine will be garaged for minor maintainance, which unfortunately now takes me a frustrating long time, but I will always be ready or there abouts if some of my friends decide a group drive out is required. If that happens, sluice off and not put away until underside has dried naturally.

Always had one on the road all year long. My 2000 doesn't generally surface very often in winter, but this year the V8 will be on the road.

So far I've managed to miss a full summer's motoring due to an extended winter freshen up , so I currently drive my P6 for none of the year.

I'm now aiming to be back on the road early next year when they've finished salting the roads. Mainly because I don't think she will last very long with the poor quality of the current paint and I can't afford a respray. Once I'm convinced everything is properly protected, I'll be less precious over salted roads. Until then, I have the Land Rover for the worst of the weather and I'll just have to wrap up warm :)

My rosie dosnt go out in winter were i live , they dont grit round us untill you hit the main roads and with the farmers spreading mud all over the roads. and the endless pot holes . and the drivers that cant drive on the left its to dangerous for rosie lol
marcus

mines kept outside under cover i let it breath on nice days by taking off the cover, and i will also use it 2 to 3 times a month just to keep the brakes clean and the battery charged :)

My Rover has been used all year round by me for 26 years. It has been garaged at night for most of that time and I have been very fortunate to avoid thunderstorms with hail.

Ron.

I run all my cars over the winter although the Nice one wont come out if it is properly snowing.

This will be my first year with a P6 on the road for many years so looking forward to the experience.

Colin

Buttercup under wraps till Feb 2012 :|
I'll start her every fortnight.
Really do miss driving her but its for the best.

I'd be very wary of leaving a car out over a winter with one of those covers on, the wind makes them flap about all over the place and that wears all the paint off the edges. The sprayer I shared my premises with ended up doing a total respray on a VW Golf because of it.

Thanks for the warning Harvey and Mick, I was aware of that and have stratigically placed some soft cloth on the edges. Its been in hiding for 6 weeks now and on nice days I have removed the cover to start her and have a little play, I've checked round for any signs of rubbing but could not see any. I hope to repaint her at some stage next year, well I'll do the prep work and my eldest boy will be painting the panels. If there's a professional in the family may as well take advantage of it. :D

I found that it's the frost and ice that causes the damage rather than the flapping. The cover holds moisture next to the paint which then sticks the cover to the paint as it freezes. Any micro cracks or chips in the paint will have water behind them and as the ice forms it expands and lifts the paint off. :(

well here is mine now

Mine is garaged al year,i tax it in may and wil run it until sept/oct then sorn it,then carry out all the maintainence on it,while its sorned

Mine is currently waiting for me to do a couple of small jobs for the MOT. Got too much work on to do my own

Gonna mis it this year, it's far better in the snow and ice then my Vitesse or Transit

As soon as I get a chance it'll be back on the road 8)

My 1966 City Grey 2000 is now my everyday car regardless of the weather. I trust a P6 more than these modern front wheel drive cars and have had at least one P6 on the road all year around from the last 20 years. I have this morning realised a slight problem for this year though, my 1966 2000 is a Right Hand Drive export model and doesn't have a heated rear screen, so that will be fun as the winter gets harsher.

v8guy!!
When you do wrap your car up,,A'la Buttercup,,,dont tuck the cover behind the wheels!!!
As any rain will then run down the inside of the wheel onto the disc, caliper, pads and may even work its way into the bearings!!!
And if it then freezes!!!
When I went to NZ for a month, and as it was left outside I wrapped it up and put some 18"sq boards over the wheels and secured the cover around them.
