i got some play in my wiper motor on mine and wanted to know if i could put on a series 2 on mine as i know they are different how could i get round this as i got 2 spares any ideas

Hello Gareth,

Whereabouts is the play? Is it noticable when the wipers are working and you are in the car?

Ron.

yea there is quite a lot of plat in the motor part and u can move the wipers up and down when it switch off there is a bolt thing on the motor and i can see it moving there but its tight as hell but still a lot of play

Gareth

Are we talking the link system with the motor on the offside, or the worm and rack sytem with the motor on the nearside?

Chris

it seems to be moving in the motor part as i said i got 2 spares s2 and wanted to know if i could get that to fit the s1

Yes, but which motoe? Link type or worm and cable? There are two completely different types of wiper system fitted to P6's. The worm and cable type has the motor on the nearside and is usually associated with power steering. The link type is on the offside and can only befitted to manual steered cars.

Chris

That would be as original for an S1, but so many have had power steering retro fitted you can never be sure!

Unfortunately I know a fair bit about the other sort but not about the link type.

Anybody on here had problems they've sorted with the link type?

Chris

well what i am going to do is change the early type to the series 2 as i got 2 spare bit of messing but that will be the best way as i have found out its easyer to get the later type

all done my friend had a spare old motor plug that on now and working fine and found out that my wiper are post to turn to park as mine would never do that
