If we ignore the actual means by which the wipers are driven, that is to say putting the linkage or cable drive mechanism to one side,...is the operation of the electrical side the same for both?

The limit switch and its operation, actuated by a cam on the inside surface of the large nylon wheel within the gearbox....if this is applicable for the wiper system as it appears in the 2000, is it also exactly the same for the wiper system within the 3500??

Many thanks,
Ron.

I will answer my own question. It is indeed.

A truth table listing all of the different combinations for both are identical.

Another area which leads to frustration is with the explanation and accompanying diagrammes within the workshop manual (double volume) and Haynes as well. This comment relates to the 3500/3500S as I have not seen a 2000 manual. It may well be different... :?

The wiper assembly shown for the cable driven model is not the one that is in my car. The diagramme shows only two wires leaving the brush assembly when in fact there are three, and items within the gearbox assembly including the design of the park switch are also different. As a consequence, a number of the steps given have no relevance, which when doing this for the first time only leads to confusion and delay.
