hi all this might be a stuiped question but my friend ask me is my v8 standard enging is a short block or the tall 1 and 2 be honest i aint got a clue wot it is

A short engine is normally a term for an engine block without heads/sump etc

What is the engine number - someone will then tell you what the engine came out of

arr right now i got you all it was i was just on rimmber web site and saw the price of a 4.6 litre engine and i thought there was different sizes v8

All Rover/Land Rover V8 blocks are essentially the same size, however Leyland Australia built a 4.4 litre version for the Leyland P76 saloon that had a 3/4" (IIRC) higher deck height and longer stroke. This meant that the motor is also marginally wider though almost everything on these motors is different to the Rover ones, there is a high degree of parts interchangeability. Although I would imagine that these motors are quite rare up that endof the world.

The modern Rovers use a 4.6L Ford V8 Mustang engine. These engines were used in the Rover 75 and MG ZT.
