More from today...
Doors & front panels going back on
Boot getting some paint..was the worse part on the car before..
Partially re-assembled while we have a cuppa..
All done..some sweat & tears later...
Few bits to go back together yet, such as door mirrors and interior. Other than that...
Some more progress has been made over the last 48 hours. A couple of 12 hour days and a feck of a lot
of work later, my new panels are in paint and waiting to be fit :) . Heres a few pics..
First coats of primer going on...
Boot will be re-used as other donor was full of holes from...
Anyone got a half decent one they could let go for sensible money please?. Im sick of buying stuff from
Ebay listed as being for such, then getting a SD1 badge in the post...grrr
Thanks!. I'm lucky enough that my best mate works for a independent Land rover garage stuck in the outskirts
of no-where and off the radar. His boss is fully accustomed to me turning up with my P6 as it's spent the last
few months being brought in and out for various jobs including swapping the...
Having got my own car back on the road what with an engine transplant and all last month im now full
steam ahead with the bodywork.
BBP lacks paint and metal in the usual areas. Paint has fell off the boot. All doors, especially the rears are
crusty and each panel has some small annoying scabs...
Went today..good turn out. Couple of P5's there but sadly not another P6..(typical as apparently there where two last week when my mate went in his Vauxhall Victor FE)
Well done! Looks very smart, and yes reminds me of the Italian Job as well :) It suits it with the cars colour,
and why not be different?. There are so many "standard" cars out there. Get's my approval :D
Thanks for all the positive comments guys..its one of those jobs i want sure about..the worse bit was
applying the first few bits of glue..no turning back & all that. But its turned out well :D
Later this month..full respray... I have all the panels off my donor SC which i will be working on...
Yeh..i wasnt sure whether there actually a totally different colour..im trying to source a replacement interior as my rear
seats are very badly gone across the tops, and the front two have splits although clean. Might try and source a later
cloth interior..thinking about black..and i need door...
Yes i had a mate give me a hand..did it in two halfs , folding back one side..applying glue etc then folded back
and smoothing it out..took a while but went ok.
I Put enough glue on and left enough over-hang so to speak to hopefully enable that not to happen..it's all nicely tucked down inside under the front chrome trim.
Only set there im afraid :(
Amazing what your boss has lying around in his attic at work :). Now i work for a motorists discount centre, and the
business has being going some 30 years. On mentioning that id like to fit a vinyl roof, with a bit of nagging and after
weeks of "oh yes im sure ive got one of those up there"...
Re: My TC, back on the road..MORE PICS
Righto..well to recap my TC, now an SC is back on the road after a dropped valve seat and a severe bottom
end knock killed it's original power plant.
Heres some more pics, since then ive been busy tidying engine bay & swapping bumpers from my donor car...
Oh god...really. Well that'l be rubbish to then, like the remake of the A-Team etc. Why cant people leave
things along. That's the trouble with Tv producers today..no imagination. They feel they have to take
something that was fondly remember and good, and try and cash in on it..but i guess...
Just for a laugh..have been out today and attempted to remake the intro to the
70's cop show "The Sweeney" (which is known for featuring a lot of P6's) featuring
my own TC.
