While on my travels spotted this and stopped to have a quick look and took some pics. Pulled out the rear seats and lifted all the carpet some nice welding done and front wells looked original. Gearbox I suspected is a sd1 5 speed as the gear shift was a lot longer than I'm used to in my 4 speed original box. Would have liked to test drive it but didn't want to excite the salesman even more. Any way managed to get a few pics.... :D

So not original but quite a nice car think its sort 3k imho

Sorry Mick thought I uploaded the pick the front asking £4500 for it, but I think its worth 3 k of anyone's money even mine

The salesman got pritty worried when I was taking out the rear seats etc till I told him to look outside where buttercup was sitting there, he then got excited in another way so it was time for me to leave, didn't fancy having my arm pushed up me back  if you know what I mean..

Very nice looking motor there Guy, love the colour & the leather. Got to admit that my loyalties have now been divided. A bloke came down my road the other week driving a TVR. I thought that there was an earthquake going on, such was the sound. It got me looking at TVR's for sale. It seems that you can get a mid 80's 350i for around 4k. 0-60 in 6 seconds, leather, all the stuff I like, for the price of a P6. It seems that most P6's up for sale recently have been overpriced. Don't get me wrong, a good one is worth decent money, but even run of the mill ones are currently priced at 4-5k+. As you said, the one in the showroom is definitely worth 3k of anyone's money.

Don't give up on finding your P6 Dave, I'm sure there's one out there with your name on it  . It's a waiting game I'm affraid and you'll kick yourself as sods law will put one in your lap once you've spent the money elsewhere :!:

I am just a bit frustrated at the moment Guy, I have not driven a V8 for many a year, & miss it badly. I definitely want either a P6 or possibly a TVR, & I have some money set aside, but due to the fact that I am buying a business, with the associated legal costs, lending costs & rent deposit. I am unsure how much the total bill will come to & therefore cannot commit any funds at the moment. I just have to be patient. Hopefully , if the business does as well as expected, I will be able to get one this year. Mind you, the Monza Red one currently for sale by one of the members on here was sorely tempting.

Hi Dave,
IMHO I think a TVR would be a bit of a disappointment to someone that's been used to an older Rover. The TVR design, engineering and build quality is a bit of a compromise when comparing with a mass-market quality British product - those were the days  . But, as you say, you'll get thrills spills, and quite a lot of chills too if you go for a TVR.

Hi Lee, at least with the TVR, I don't need to worry about body rust, (only the chassis) as I live near the sea! at the moment the TVR is just about the favourite. Youtube has a lot to answer for! (been watching too many TVR vids.) that sound is simply seductive! Also, I'm not getting any younger, & I think that owning a TVR is something we all need to do before we pop our clogs, lol. Maybe I'll get the TVR for a while & then settle down with a P6 for the longer term.

BTW, do you own a P6 as well as your SD1, if so, what model colour, year etc.

Dave

I had a 350i for a while. I got wetter in that than when I rode my motorbike in the rain

Great fun and noise but then you can do all that in a Rover with extra seats, luggage space, wet weather protection, need I go on

Nowt wrong with having one though, until you get a Rover

is that right Nick?, everyone wants a tax exempt s with a 5 speed?
mmm! things are looking up then!

350i mmmm not a fan I'm affraid  nice noise  , but to much off a wedge shape for :| me kinda reminds me of a TR7, :( IMO

You can't see the shape when you're in it

My ex wife wanted a rag top, that had a Rover motor and fitted the bill 8) I sold it soon after I moved her on
