No worries Guy, I got you & GrimV8 mixed up, silly bugger! anyway they both look great motors. I guess I'll have to stock up on drill bits, lol.

Dave
I'm the better looking one

I used to use a plastic workshop seat cover on mine, so that when I came down to get into it in the morning I could pour the water out and have a dry seat. I think the 'S' series weren't as bad but that is what needed the drill bits

Dave a very hard thing to do in real life I would say it's almost like mixing up snoopy and woodstock IMO

Hi Lee, at least with the TVR, I don't need to worry about body rust, (only the chassis) as I live near the sea! at the moment the TVR is just about the favourite. Youtube has a lot to answer for! (been watching too many TVR vids.) that sound is simply seductive! Also, I'm not getting any younger, & I think that owning a TVR is something we all need to do before we pop our clogs, lol. Maybe I'll get the TVR for a while & then settle down with a P6 for the longer term.

Hello Dave,
My apologies for very late reply, as I seemed to have found this topic again :?

I see where you're coming from now with the TVR idea. My friend has a TVR S2, and whilst offering a very entertaining drive(even with the humble 2.9 V6)it has the usual TVR woes. I actually made the mistake of saying that "I thought it an upmarket kitcar" Not a very clever thing to say to a TVR enthusiast. Amazingly he never told me to "go forth and multiply".

BTW, do you own a P6 as well as your SD1, if so, what model colour, year etc.

Sadly not, due to lack of money, space, and work(at the moment), and also as I have three cars already. I used to own a 1972 3500 S in corsica blue which my Father now owns. Out of choice I would luv another P6 V8 auto preferably in tobacco leaf, or scarab as a second option 8)

I had a TVR Chimaera a while ago. Let me just say, uncomfortable, noisy, creaky, damp, electrical gremlins, gauges not working properly, misfires, central locking problems, paint problems, no manuals available, massive tyre wear, high revving at motorway speeds....... and mine was 8 months old when I had it. Actually they do sound great, but sit in the car for twenty minutes with that noise and it will drive you mad.

Everyone should own a TVR once, but once is enough!

Guy," a bit like mixing up Snoopy & Woodstock" or more like mixing up Laurel & Hardy? lol.

Lee, no worries, I'm always doing that, posting stuff & then forgetting which topic it was on! A '72 S in Corsica Blue, sounds great, both Corsica & Scarab Blue along with Monza Red are my favourite colours. At least it is still in the family. Tobacco leaf I also quite like, but only with a manual box!

Keynsham1, yes, I expect a few problems with it, but like you say, you've gotta do it just once. Undoubtedly afterwards I will buy a 3500S for the long term. I just love 'em too much not to have one in my life, like a good woman!

350i mmmm not a fan I'm affraid  nice noise  , but to much off a wedge shape for :| me kinda reminds me of a TR7, :( IMO

Out of choice, if I had to, I would go for one of the so-called 'wedges' - 420 SEAC ideally. I really like the styling on those, and the TR7 too.

Interestingly or not, the same designer (Oliver Winterbottom) who penned the 'wedge', also penned several Lotus cars too. They all had a familiar appearance, especially front end styling. Oliver Winterbottom worked very closely with Colin Chapman, and he was the head of design and saftey at Lotus, before moving to TVR.

is that right Nick?, everyone wants a tax exempt s with a 5 speed?
mmm! things are looking up then!

Hmmm... I sold a solid tax exempt 5-speed simply on the grounds that I was sick and tired of the shifting business.
Got me a taxable auto in tatters in lieu. Are you guys saying that wasn't the wisest decision?

Which reminds me...

Does anyone out there know what happened to GAA12K?

Nice to know.

It's a Tobacco Leaf ex-auto converted to 5-speed, with black top, black fabric interior with ET headrests, sundym all round and power steering.

How about a TVR 450 SEAC or maybe another model converted to SEAC specs? Or even better.....A Rover P6 with the 325 horsepower SEAC engine? (drooling on my keyboard right now!)

So someone painted it in grey primer, changed the rotten passenger door, installed a 4 throat carburetter and a Cherry Bomb.
I hope it didn't stop there.
