Hi Guys, Do you remember the 1st car you had, or the car you passed your test in, mine was an austin a40, what was yours? . :D

Metalic blue 1974 Hillman Hunter GLS - I wish I still had photos. I passed my test in my mum's Talbot Avenger - MLH 731V.

Then followed a string of old dogs and a few decent motors - Cortinas, Mk 1 Escorts, Series III Land Rover, Sierra 1.6L, 1973 Ford Thunderbird, 1974 P6 2200TC, the odd Mini, Triumph Spitfire. Then I moved to the States and I have had quite a mix since 1992.

My first car in California (well, not actually mine - but one like it...)

I have a soft spot for the hillman Avenger, they were a better car than people think.

First car I owned was a '68 Valiant VE. Didn't go but I learnt a bit pulling things apart and sold it for a profit! First running car was a very rusty '72 Triumph 2000 auto, bought when I was 14, I got a bit of practice in driving around the backstreets. First car to actually achieve road legal status was the '71 Vauxhall Victor 3300 I had when I was 15. That thing was a brute and I wound up spinning it backwards through a hedge on a greasy road one evening.

Avengers were great little cars. I had a mate in high school who was into them. Virtually indestructable engines.

Had 2 Hillman Hunters as field cars before i was legal to drive along with Avengers. Mk2 cortina's, mk3 cortina's, escorts, mini vans and pick ups. Could kick myself now when i think of all the good old cars we wrecked in our youth. Passed my test in a Metro and my first car was a wee red mini with a white roof Quickly followed by a mk2 Astra in lurid green with full body kit and some go faster mods, wouldn't be seen dead in it nowaday's  :D

My first set of wheels -Murgatroyd , went surfing with me
You guess its parentage ?
Quirky
Mechanical brakes that would get hot down hill and fade badly, to the point of crossing an intersection and entering a hedge with brakes full on.
Two cylinders opposed
someone stole it > my parents were ecstatic .No more oil puddles on their driveway.
I was heart broken

1st car, '79 Chevette 4 door saloon, loved it, had it for years, fitted a cav 1.8 sri engine and ford type 9 later on.
I think I passed my test in an early Nova  I remember the instructor didn't know how to put the interior lights on without opening the door, so I showed her to pull the headlamp switch out :D

Learnt to drive and passed my test (1972) in a bronze Ford Escort XNR 972J.

First car (sorely missed :( ) was a Sunbeam Rapier (not the fastback) BBC 942B. Lovely car as I remember...walnut dash and twin-choke Webers. I ended up putting it into a tree and getting 20-odd facial stitches for my sins.

The folly of youth....

heh :)

The car I learned to drive on was a 1990 Rover metro, which was great! The car I took my test in was a 2003 Nissan Micra, which was not.

The first car I bought was the Midget, the first car I bought that could be driven around was the rover 200 that donated its guts to the midget, just over 2 years ago!

all yours are much more interesting :)

First car given to me was an MG metro (XTO795Y) silver and well respected amongst my peers ... i'd passed my test in one of the first bubble shaped micras (My grandad was an instructor so had the right car for it... the reason so many were nissans is that they were the only ones that would fit the dual controls for free.)

First car i bought was a gold Opel Manta 1.8s berlinetta, metallic gold, £120 coz it needed an alternator and a battery. OUY299Y - nicked by some scallys when i was at my uncles house.... I loved this car!

Then my dad felt sorry for me and bought me a 1.6 sierra... doggedly reliable, but extremely hungry on fuel compared to the manta...

That had a front end crunch when montego without brake lights pulled in front of me then braked...

Then it was the W reg datsun sunny... 1.5, 5 speed, in beige with a brown vinyl roof. This car was a revelation - very quick and frugal, but also very rusty underneath...

Then it was a red 950 fiesta

Then a black opel manta 1.8s...
then a white opel manta 2.0 gte,
then a t reg manta, silver, handpainted roof, but lowered all round, splitter on the front, 2.2 carlton engine, 5 speed gearbox out of a 520. This thing cornered liked nothing else i've driven since.

Then the worst car i've ever had. 1st decent job after uni so splashed 2 grand on j251nfl - a black 1.6 orion efi, jelly mould. lovely drive. new tyres every 3 months, and it would decide whether to start or not on a day by day basis. It ended up sitting on a drive while i paid the finance, and drove a £250 sierra 2.0i. The sierra was a great car...

Then i got my first p6! Think it was GLW400N - certainly close to that. same as micks but with a complete sd1 engine and viscous fan(not sure how they crammed it in but they did!), black boxpleat interior. cost £50... £100 through the MOT.
The engine then went boom so it was game over really for that as it was too thirsty for the distances i was doing at the time. (timing chain/sprockets went at 80 mph!)

then we're getting modern and sensible for the most part so i'll skip that!

and then PAE.

I'm sure i've missed some!

My first car was a 1968 Rover 2000 TC in Arden green and a beige interior (buckskin? I don't know the interior colours  )

Bought it ten days before I took my driving test and polished it every day until I got a license :D

Got a pic somewhere after I had removed the front bumper and put the sidepipes on

My first car was a 1983 VW Passat estate, 1.6GL. It was blue, lowered and covered with MTB company stickers, including this one on the bonnet 1m square.

I had it for about 18 months and then I bought a Volvo 740 estate which I had a for about 6 years.

Edit* just noticed this was my 1000th post!

Dad taught me to drive in his Mk3 Cortina, a 1300L, then had two lessons and took my test in a driving school Datsun Cherry.

Then bought my first car a Cortina 1600GT, I think it was on a 'J' plate. It was a very nice car and just loved the raised dash binnacle with the inset dials .

My pride and joy was saving up and purchasing and brand new Datsun Sunny Coupe in 1979. It was the bees knees to me and was chuffed to bits with it.

First car was a 1200 Ford Anglia Super, It had so much filler in it you risked asbestosis to drive it, Me and the old man blueprinted the engine and I thought it went like stink, Ah the folly of 17, Then came the Bedford Beagle van with lots of Blydenstein bits, then the Mk1 Escort I wrote big style, but my favourite car in my early motoring history was an Austin 3 litre auto I had, but the thirst, oh the thirst that lorry engine had,
