Are there any reasons you wouldn't install an oil catch can on a carburettor'd 3.5?

If I put a magnet on the vertical tube of the rear breather, do you think it would catch any filings from a quick zip with an angle-grinder? Maybe then clean the tube with a pipe cleaner - hopefully no grit should go past the elbow......?

Update: That's what I did. Clipped the crimp off quickly with an angle grinder, then used my magnetic pick-up tool to clean the vertical pipe best I could. Last couple of passes there was no grit so fingers crossed. Then I've put a small brass-style fuel filter connected via fuel hose and cable-tied that to the auto dipstick. I have one rocker bank going into the vacuum side of the air filter and the other is venting through a breather, but I'm working towards having both go to a T piece->catch-can->PCV valve-> air filter vacuum side. Thinking I'll build the can myself from PVC with baffles/collection media....
