Is it possible for a B/W 65 to pack up over night without signs of any symptoms.?? I have a 1975 V8 auto. I gave the car to a garage to complete the restoration. After completion he said he drove the car to another garage to get a rolling road tune up. I was told the tune up was a success, was told the BHP was actually increased. The garage collected car from the tune up and said he was very impressed when he was driving it back. I went to collect the car a few days later and took it for a test drive. After couple of minutes the gearbox started slipping and was not engaging any secondary gears. It got a lot worse by the time I got back to the garage. I noticed when he checked the transmission level that it was dry. he did say that he put a few litres in earlier ?. The garage is now saying that the gearbox is knackered and needs replacing. He said it is possible for a gearbox to be working fine one day and pack up over night. IS THIS CORRECT ? Also is this possible just having been told its just come back from a rolling road tune??
