Building my double garage at last!

Hi all.

Getting ready for the rebuild of the garage!!

Ive just finished clearing out the garage and shed of all my stash of P6 and TR car parts!
JEEZ! I am knackered!!
We,my bruv and I, decided to leave the spare V8 lump and axle assembly and the big compressor in the garden! ;) As neither of us fancied getting a hernia!!
Ive filled the 2 spare bedrooms, and my brother reckons I need an acro-prop in the lounge to support the ceiling!!
Good job I aint married!! :p

There must be a classic car loving/owning single woman out there somewhere, looking for a classic car nut to go for a long ride with ???.
I come with a very low mileage and useage, pretty good condition chassis that has got plenty of miles left in the body department, but needs a good jump start now and then to get the motor running at peak efficiency!
Likes a good rub down with a hot chamois!
I can dream !!
My bedroom is free of any car parts!
Just a big bed,big duvet and a big telly!! 8)
Luvly and cosy for me and casper!!
But he is willing to vacate the bed if it gets a little crowded!

4 x 5.5m beams for the garage!! and the new door wrapped up!
Hope to start it some time this month!!

I hope you guys don't mind me butting in on this very interesting topic! But the mention of pits brought to mind an instance in the early eighties, I was a mechanic with a very big worldwide company, in one of their depots in South Wales, we had two Bradbury four poster lifts, and one pit, when we arrived at work on this particular Monday morning we discovered that over the weekend the workshops had been broken into, but one of the thieves had fallen into the pit and broke his, either a leg, or a hip, I can't remember which, anyway the Company was taken to court, and prosicuted for not having placed the boards on the pit when it was not in use, the thief won the case, to the tune of around two Grand. Why is that? I mean, He had no right to be there in the first place!! Just thought you'd like to know not to leave your pits open, pity for those burglers to hurt themselves!!!!!!!!
Julian.

I also suppose that if you had a guard dog that should have bitten the a*** of the burglar you would be accussed of keeping wild aminals or what?
And perhaps if he got scratched on the barbed wire while jumping over the fence he could also sue you for his injury.
No mate, just leave the doors wide open, there's no hope, the world's gone mad...

Or at least had the sense to buy or steal new batteries for his torch!
It was his own fault for not going tooled up properly!!
IMHO!!
Trespassers deserve whatever happens to them on private property!!
I have NO sympathy for any of the scumbags!!

At my last address I had a visit from the local police sargeant due to a spate of break ins in the area,he wanted to check on and inform me about security,I told him I have four rather large dogs in the house should any scroutt be silly enough to break in then there is a good possibilty that he /she will be bitten, in that case, said he, there would be a good chance that the dog would be put down.
My reply was I might just as well leave my doors and windows unlocked and invite them in his reply "Come now sir you are being silly now".
Needless to say I cannot put my reply on here  :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Sounds like he was surveying the area to ensure the safety of the criminal fraternity.

After the lies (provable) they told about me in court I am not surprised, as they are now in my opinion within that community themselves.

The TR6 is safely stashed away at a work mates place for the duration!

If ??? The weather holds up we are on target for a completion date about the 1st week of june!
I fully expect it to go on till mid june,as things do crop up.
As it is restored "re-built" ,and as I know a few of you are builders or in the construction industry,or are just into this type of thing,I will add a few going up pics for your delictation!!
If you want to ask anything or pass on any tips, advice, please feel free to do so,all welcome!

Can you put in a water supply ? I wish I'd done that when I dug the trench for the power supply to mine

Good point!
Think about air lines too seeing as you're in the floor anyway, but don't go half inch as the flow is quite low, use 3/8" for good delivery.
Buy your wife a new dishwasher, then you can take the old one to the garage. They are brilliant for cleaning things that are gunked and filthy. 'Er indoors got all bent out of shape when I used the one inside for cleaning a cylinder head for my bike, but now that she has a new one, peace reigns again.

Due to the complicated planning rules,if I wanted to put in water, power, drainage,it then comes under services and possible or future domestic usage, and would need the relevant permissions!
As for fitting a pit,I dont like them, and as we have a lowish water table here,it would need to be a sealed unit, also with proper fume extraction for safety!
And they aint cheap!!!
I am going to save up for one of those portable 4 post ramps instead, and use a hosepipe and extension lead!!
I can run airline hose around the wall, for an outlet near the door and workbench if needed!
The garage as it will be built, will need no planning permission or building regs,as its size has been VERY carefully calculated to be, """ JUST  """, within the size limits for permitted domestic developement!!!

Hi all.
Now the rains stopped we can crack on!! 8)
We pour the base this eve,and hopefully we can build the main wall and remaining back wall bit tomorrow!!
I am humping the blocks to Mickey, and doing the muck mixes, pointing the blocks and generally keeping things tidy, and enjoying it!!
I have made a slight design change, where the block pillars tie in the side wall, I have stepped them out to form platforms to mount 3 shelves on!!
"l/h corner of the pic!!"
If anyone decides on ignoring the warning sign!
I cant do anymore!!!
My car blocks entry at night, bollards around working area in the day,
AND!!! Most important!!! Casper cat is on guard duty!!
IMAG0339.jpg

Slabs poured!!
Will get all blockwork and steel beams in by end of day sat, poss garage door on as well!!
Then can start on the roof monday!!
