the next one is saturday 4th july, 2pm, same place.
hope to see some more people there, we're a bit lost without a p6!

I know some might disagree, but it's great to see some SD1's about, they're getting very thin on the ground and considering their importance in the rover story it would be sad to see them all gone.

Also good to see an 800 in the group !

no p6s unfortunately
both clubs invited, plus all the other rover clubs
first saturday of every month, so hopefully some will come to a future meet.
if all else fails, one of my fellow sd1 owners who comes along also has a p6....
for your reference rick, there are just over 600 SD1s left on the road

I have just bought a nice looking P6 so may well be able to turn up when I acquire in in a week or two :)

Please keep me informed as to forthcoming meets.

At the risk of upsetting TP3500S , I do like that Vitesse
Used to be a chap near me who had a C reg model and he'd take it to shows to show anyone who was interested that when he removed the oil filler , the rockers etc were as clean as new
You see the odd 800 series at shows but never a 600 - they seem to be fast disappearing from the roads

I'm still smoking a 620GSi around as a daily driver. There worth nothing and yet, as the Honda Accord's better looking sister, they are a great car.

I've quite a regard for V8 SD1's too..the ones that have survived seem well cared for and still look retro-good to me.

I'm running a '97 Rover 620Si auto as my daily (thanks to Harvey! :) )...just gone through its MOT and only needed a CV boot and a spot of welding on the centre exhaust box. So £100 including the ticket..and another year's motoring..can't complain at that. Lovely ride too. When I got it the F/O/S wing had had an ouch! moment and been (sort of) repaired and rattle-canned. Picked up a wing in Nightfire from ebay for £15...not got round to fitting it yet. Soon though!

Back on topic...I'll have to try and get down to the Red Lion one of these Saturdays..won't be the August one though I'm afraid.

Cheers,

Glad it's gone through the MOT, with only those two minor items to get another year out of it at least. I have to say it does look good parked up in my Used Car Lot there. Would you buy a car from this man.........................

thanks to swine flu, a mechanical breakdown, a traffic jam, a wedding, a p5 rally, and three holidays, the turnout was not massive this month.
still, double sd1 owner david cowie made it with his very nice 1977 2200TC, in sd1 pendelican white. we were well overdue for a p6.

the next one is september 5th, 2pm

I would love to bring my car along but frankly it is not up to being shown right now :(

The bonnet has been repaired on the nearside edge.... the outer sills are off and being replaced by refurbished ones.... the power steering box leaks fluid :? The interior needs some work especially the drivers seat :( Apart from these tasks there are quite a few more on the list :)

So there are a few jobs to do before I can feel sort of comfortable knowing that knowledgeable are walking around it

If you look closely enough at any-bodies car there are loads of things it would be nice to sort out! Isn't the fun of these things getting to talk to the similarely afflicted about them? I'd go along, with the car! If you really feel uncomfortable, then go in the daily driver and chat to people and I'm sure you'll feel up to taking the Rover next time. At least your's has an MoT so you have the choice!

Chris

I agree with Chris

Remember it's a 'meet' not a 'show'. I love to see all standards of car at meets and it's easier to talk about the jobs that need doing with someone who knows a bit about the car if the car is actually there. People will not think any less of you or your car if it is not in pristine condition..... most of them aren't :!:

If the car can be safely driven then I would encourage you to go with it.

Dave

quite agree with these boys - my sd1 is far from mint, and my p6 has grotty doors, i'm not into nice shiny mint cars myself. please don't let that stop you coming - you won't be the only one with a "normal" rover!!
about half the cars that attend are nice condition, the other half are normal, rusty condition!
hope to see you along at some point anyway if you can make it, rusty or otherwise :D

I take mine to car shows and have great fun chatting to all and sundry about it.

Mine is painted in all 6 shades of Lunar grey
